Bold in Reigniting Your Spark

How I Stopped Letting My Career Define Me—And Started Defining My Career

Welcome to The Bold Brief—

We want to be bold in our life’s purpose, and bold in life and career choices to live with authenticity, balance, and meaningful challenges, driving forward with confidence.

So, let’s be bold in reigniting your spark

The Spark That Changed Everything

There wasn’t a dramatic breaking point. No single moment where I said, "Enough is enough."

Instead, it was a slow burn—a creeping realization that something felt off.

I had built my professional nursing career with intention, worked my way through many years of medical-surgical nursing, early & mid-career leadership, industry, consulting, and academia until tenured, while I developed expertise across key corners of nursing and healthcare. I became an expert. A high-performer. A nurse that people could trust, rely on, and look up to.

But even with all that success, something was missing.

✨I had lost my spark.✨

It wasn’t just exhaustion from long shifts or the pressure of leadership and non-stop learning. It was deeper than that.

I felt trapped in a career that no longer fit the person I was becoming.

The Silent Struggle No One Talks About

If you’re an expert nurse or healthcare professional, you know this feeling.

You’ve dedicated years—sometimes decades—to your career. You’ve built a reputation, gained experience, and mastered your craft.

But then, one day, you wake up and ask:

“Is this it?”

You love being a professional. But you also crave more:
🔥 More happiness.
🔥 More balance.
🔥 More control over your time and future.

Not because you’re ungrateful. Not because you want to abandon nursing.

(My BIGGEST Fear - Abandoning nursing - what would my family, friends, and colleagues think if I left the bedside and nursing after so many years committed to my traditional nursing career?)

But because you know, deep in your soul, that you were meant to do more than survive—you were meant to thrive.

I Needed an Answer to That One Question That Could Changed Everything

One night, after a particularly draining series of shifts, I asked myself:

“What if I don’t have to choose?”

What if I could still use my nursing and leadership expertise, still make an impact—but in a way that gave me authenticity, balance, and meaningful challenge?

This one question set me on a path I never expected.

The Real Problem: Why So Many Nurses Stay Stuck

Here’s the truth no one talks about:

Most nurses don’t stay in their careers because they love every aspect of their job.

Most nurses stay because they don’t know how to pivot—how to take their expertise and translate it into something new.

Nobody teaches us how to:
✅ Leverage our existing education and skills for new opportunities.
✅ Build life-work systems that prevent burnout, and prevent dissatisfaction.
✅ Make career moves that align with who we truly are - as you grow through your career.

So we stay. We settle. We tell ourselves, “This is just how nursing is.”

But it doesn’t have to be.

❌Don’t get another degree. ❌Don’t get another certification.

✅ You are already more that you realize!

Giving Myself Permission to Evolve

I knew I had two options:

1️⃣Keep going down the same road, hoping something would change.
2️⃣Take control of my career & life and intentionally design a life that felt aligned.

I chose the second path.

I started studying traditional career transitions - starting with my own traditional career as a medical-surgical nurse and applying all that I learned from my time in the staffing industry.

I studied self-leadership, self-discipline, productivity, emotional intelligence, and personal development. I experimented, I failed, and I refined my process.

And in doing so, I built something life-changing:

The ABCD FrameworkTM for a fulfilling life and career

Authenticity – Aligning with your core values and purpose.

Balance – Designing life-work systems that actually work for you.

Challenge – Pursuing meaningful, growth-driven work1

Driving forward with Confidence – Staying motivated while maintaining forward momentum while celebrating your many successes in career and life.

Once I integrated ABCDs into my life and career, everything changed.

Then, I knew I had to help other nurses do the same.

A New Approach to Career Success

My work is not just about finding “a new job.”

It was about helping expert nurses and other healthcare professionals reignite their spark and thrive in careers that align with who they truly are.

So I created The BOLD Nurse Academy—a strategic, proven program that helps nurses and healthcare professionals:

Because the truth is:

🔥 You don’t have to leave nursing. You just have to redefine it.
